How Arena works

  1. 1

    Pick the scores

Each season has about ten hand-picked matches a week, the same set for everyone. Predict each score before kickoff. A match you skip scores 0.

  2. 2

    Score rarity points

Up to 25 points a match. The fewer players who made your pick, the more it pays.

  3. 3

    Play your league

You play in a league of 50. The table updates after every match.

  4. 4

    Move up

After 4 weeks the top of each league moves up a level and the bottom drops. Then a new season starts.

How points work

Every Arena match pays on the same scale. The points stack in three layers, and each layer pays more when fewer Arena players made the same pick.

What you got rightPoints
The right winner, or the draw8 to 15
The right goal difference+2 to 5
The exact score+3 to 5

For example

  • The right winner, picked by most players: 8 points.
  • The exact score, picked by most players: 13 points.
  • An exact score almost nobody else picked: 25 points, the most one match can pay.
  • A wrong winner, or a match you skip: 0 points.

How rare a pick is, is counted among all the Arena players who predicted that match. Picks are for the score after 90 minutes and stoppage time; extra time and penalties do not count.

Leagues and levels

Players are split into leagues of 50, and each level has one more league than the level above. Everyone predicts the same matches, so points compare across leagues. When a season ends, the top of each league moves up a level and the bottom drops one.

  1. Apex

    1 league of 50

    The top level.

The bottom 10 drop to Blaze.

  2. Blaze

    2 leagues of 50

The top 5 of each league move up to Apex.

The bottom 9 of each league drop to Captain.

  3. Captain

    3 leagues of 50

The top 6 of each league move up to Blaze.

The bottom 8 of each league drop to Dynamo.

  4. Dynamo

    4 leagues of 50

The top 6 of each league move up to Captain.

Nobody drops from here while it is the lowest level.

  5. Qualifiers

Your first Arena pick during a season puts you here: one open table under the leagues, with the same points and the same table order. Rank higher to be placed in a higher league next season.

  • More levels open as Arena grows.
  • Leagues on the same level are reshuffled every season by rank, so they are equally strong.
  • Leagues are set when a season starts. Nobody joins a league mid-season, so who can move up or drop is fixed from day one.

The rules in full

Seasons
A season is 4 full weeks, from Monday to Sunday. All of its matches are published when it starts, and a match belongs to the season in which it kicks off.
Postponed matches
A match moved to a date outside the season is cancelled for that season and scores no points for anyone. So is a match that is still unfinished a day after the season ends.
When a season ends
Once every match is over, each league's final table decides who moves up and who drops, the winners get their badges and the next season starts.
Players level on points
More exact scores ranks higher, then more right winners, then more 25-point matches, then more 24-point matches, and so on down.
Who plays
Everyone with a PrediBall account can play, for free, on the web, iPhone and Android. You join the tables with your first Arena pick.
How Season 1 is drawn
The day before Season 1 starts, everyone's picks from the four weeks before are scored with Arena points, and the leagues are filled from the top by average points per match. Players with fewer than 10 matches in those weeks come after everyone with 10 or more.
Your group picks count
If you predict in groups, a group pick for an Arena match counts in Arena too, and an Arena pick copies into your groups that have the match. The latest change counts everywhere, and a match whose deadline has passed is never changed. You can turn copying off in the Arena tab.
Picks stay hidden
Nobody sees other players' picks before kickoff. After kickoff, the table shows them.
Players who stop picking
A match without a pick scores 0, so a player who stops picking drops. In the lowest level, a player with no pick all season leaves the table until their next pick.

Badges

Reaching a level for the first time earns its badge, shown next to your name in the app. Winning your league earns that level's cup, and every win counts.

  • Reached Apex
  • Apex winner
  • Reached Blaze
  • Blaze winner
  • Reached Captain
  • Captain winner
  • Reached Dynamo
  • Dynamo winner

Questions

Is Arena free?

Yes. Arena is free for everyone with a PrediBall account, on the web, iPhone and Android.

Do I need to join a group?

No. Arena is outside any group. If you play in groups, your picks for the same matches count in Arena automatically.

How many points can one match give?

Between 0 and 25. The right winner pays the most when few players picked it, and the right goal difference and the exact score add more on top.

Which matches are in Arena?

About ten of the week's biggest matches, from the Champions League, Europe's top leagues, national teams and more, picked by PrediBall. The whole season's list is out when the season starts.

When does the season end?

Season 1 ends on Sunday 29 November. The next season starts on Monday 30 November.

What are the Qualifiers?

The table for players who make their first Arena pick during a season. It plays like any league, and ranking higher there places you in a higher league next season.
